In this article, Constantine Rousses discusses why pirating
movies is so popular now days. She explains that back in the day when movie
tickets were a mere four dollars you had no problem paying that fee. Now in
some cases with the release of movies in 3-D tickets sometimes cost up to
twenty dollars per ticket. Who wants to pay that outrageous price when they can
download the movie for free on their laptop or computer? Also, Eager moviegoer
in which the movie isn’t released in their region will look to download it from
someone in another region in which the movie has already been released. In some
cases people who don’t live near a movie theater or like in a foreign country
where the movie isn’t released are more likely to download the movie. Another reason why movies are illegally
downloaded is because they want to watch the movie on their time. With the
advancement in technology people are now able to download movies to their
computer or laptops and are easily assessable and may times their theater going
experience is tampered fellow moviegoers texting, talking, or even standing up. Rousses States, "the greatest resin for why movies are pirated is due to excessively high ticket prices Ticket prices have doubled in the last decade, making going to the movies a near-luxury pastime, especially for families."
This article will work very well in my paper even though it isn't about my topic specifically it relates to an important aspect of my topic,
film sharing or piracy. I will be able to connect these two ideas together
relating how the invention of piracy and the cost of ticket sale has changed
the movie industry.
Rousses, Constantine. "Will the movie industr'ys raise of movie ticket prices negatively impact Hollywood industry profits and increase piracy and illegal downloading of pirated films? ." Fightpiracy.org. (2010): n. page. Web. 20 Jul. 2012.
